It’s been just over one month since the U.S. declared a pandemic and strong social distancing practices were put into effect across our communities. Right now, we are all experiencing drastic and varying degrees of this depending on where we call home, but one thing is for certain: there’s not one person who hasn’t been impacted by COVID in one way or another.

It’s more important than ever to come together.

We’re seeing the term “come together” in full action by those heroes who remain on the front lines to help maintain our sense of normalcy — doctors and nurses, first responders, governments, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies and others delivering vital services. Our gratitude for these folks is unmeasurable, and the global sense of community amidst the crisis offers a glimpse of what’s possible when we rise up together.

One of Alliance’s core values is to Do Right by People. One simple and effective way to minimize the risk of spreading COVID is to maximize social distance. So, one of our first major changes was to implement a sweeping work-from-home policy. If our associates can work from home, they will.

As a result, we’ve been developing new, virtual ways to stay connected with our communities. Just a few weeks ago we launched Home Comes First, an Alliance Resident Program that provides resources and options for our residents experiencing hardships due to COVID.  You can read all about the program and efforts we’re taking to show up for our communities here

We know that the best chance at flattening the curve is to stay home for now.  It’s the right thing. Which is why this month we joined the Ad Council, Google, the ANA, and other leading advertising, media, and marketing trade associations to encourage everyone to do their part in staying home to slow the spread of COVID by launching #StayHome so we can be #AloneTogether.

We’re feeling – and seeing – a strong sense of global community of folks doing right by people, and doing what they know is right. While these times are difficult to navigate, we find daily stories of inspiration on how people are finding ways to stay more connected than ever. We’ll be rolling out additional services, tools, and incentives in the next few weeks to best serve our communities and do our part on the front lines of what we consider essential: home.

Be good to one another and remember,
we’re better together.
